The LSU Tigers and the UCLA Bruins have scheduled a home-and-home football series for 2021 and 2024, both schools announced this afternoon.
UCLA will host the first game of the series at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on Sept. 4, 2021. LSU will then host the second and final game of the series at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge on Aug. 31, 2024. The games are the first ever scheduled between the two schools.
“It’s our goal to play as an attractive non-conference schedule as possible,” LSU Director of Athletics Joe Alleva said. “Getting teams to agree to a home-and-home series is very difficult but we will continue to make every attempt to bring a BCS-conference caliber opponent to Tiger Stadium.
“Scheduling is very difficult and done many years in advance. It’s important that you put together a schedule that prepares your team for the rigorous SEC schedule but also one that has balance so that your team is ready both mentally and physically for the conference slate. I think the addition of these teams to our future schedules gives us that.”
LSU now has future home-and-home series slated against Arizona State (2022-23), NC State (2017/20), Oklahoma (TBA), and tentatively against Syracuse (2015/17). The Tigers will also meet Wisconsin in a neutral site series in Houston in 2014 and Green Bay in 2016.
LSU also confirmed today that the are scheduled to play a home-and-home series against Syracuse in 2015 and 2017. Dates and locations were not announced, but the series is rumored to kick off at the Carrier Dome in 2015.
The Tigers also confirmed the new dates for their Arizona State series, which we reported two weeks ago. The new dates of the series are Sept. 10, 2022 at Arizona State and Sept. 9, 2023 at LSU.
“In LSU, a perennial SEC power, we are pleased to add yet another marquee opponent to our future schedule,” said UCLA Athletic Director Dan Guerrero. “With such upcoming non-conference games taking us around the country to places like Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma and Michigan, we’re able to nationally showcase UCLA Football while strengthening our resume come playoff season.”
UCLA also has home-and-home series set with other Group of 5 conference members, including Virginia (2014-15), Texas A&M (2016-17), Oklahoma (2018-19), Rutgers (2020-21), and Michigan (2022-23).
Football Schedules
Looking at OOC scheduling like this makes me think it is time for Baylor to schedule another game with Incarnate World…..
Are LSU’s 2015 remaning opening, BYU’s 12th 2015 game and the BYU-LSU game Bronco Mendenhall referenced all a neutral site game still being worked on or that fell through?
you sure don’t see Boise State doing this type of scheduling. Never more than 1 BCS team a year unless it is Oregon State and Washington State or Washington and Virginia in the same season. Last year Tennessee-Martin next year Idaho State. Bring on ULL and Troy, Cinncinati, and UConn and Virginia. Only semi weak teams who will go play on that ugly Blue monstrosity.
Boise State (and BYU and Cincinnati) are all taking the best home-and-home they can get.
