2024 Louisville at USF football game moved to season-opener

The USF Bulls have been active over the past few months in adding to and altering their future non-conference football schedules.

USF recently scheduled a three-game series with the Miami Hurricanes, a three-game series with the Alabama Crimson Tide, and home-and-home series with the Boise State Broncos.

About a year and a half ago, USF scheduled a three-game series with the Louisville Cardinals. The series is scheduled to kick off at Cardinal Stadium in Louisville on Sept. 24, 2022.

The second game of the series was scheduled for Sept. 21, 2024 in Tampa, but the date of that contest was changed on Thursday. The 2024 Louisville-USF game will now be the season-opener for both schools on Saturday, Aug. 31.

The date of the game was changed as part of a series of scheduling announcements on Thursday, one of which involved the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. WKU added a game at Ohio State for 2023 and bumped their contest at Alabama slated for the same season to the season-opener on Aug. 31, 2024.

WKU was previously scheduled to open the 2024 season against USF in Tampa, but that date was also changed to Sept. 21, which is same date that Louisville-USF previously occupied.

The third and final game of the USF-Louisville series remains unchanged. It is scheduled for Sept. 19, 2026 at Cardinal Stadium.

USF and Louisville first met on the gridiron in 2003 and then played each season through 2013. UL currently leads the series 6-5.
