The Virginia Cavaliers and the Old Dominion Monarchs have scheduled a three-game football series for 2018, 2020, and 2022, both schools announced today.
The series was announced ahead of FOIA requests for football contracts by both FBSchedules.com and ODUBlitz.com.
Virginia will host Old Dominion at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville on Nov. 17, 2018 and then again four seasons later on Sept. 17, 2022. The Cavaliers will travel to take on the Monarchs in Norfolk on Nov. 21, 2020.
The 2018 contest will be the first meeting on the gridiron between the two Virginia schools, which are separated by about 167 miles.
“I think this is a win–win series for both ODU and Virginia. It will be a great series for fans of ODU and UVA and for college football fans in general throughout the Commonwealth. This series fits perfectly with our other attractive home and home ACC scheduling such as Virginia Tech, UNC, NC State, Wake Forest and AAC member East Carolina,” said ODU Athletic Director Dr. Wood Selig. “I think this series continues to validate our move to FBS and C-USA and really sets up our future non-conference schedule very nicely. We look forward to competing against Virginia.”
The addition of Old Dominion completes Virginia’s non-conference schedule for the 2018 season. The Cavaliers are also scheduled to host Richmond (Sept. 1), travel to Indiana (Sept. 8), and host Ohio (Sept. 15).
Virginia needs three more non-conference games for 2020 and two more for 2022.
Old Dominion has now tentatively completed their non-conference schedule for both the 2018 and 2020 seasons. In 2018, the Monarchs are slated to host VMI (Sept. 8), host Virginia Tech (Sept. 22), and travel to East Carolina (Sept. 29).
In 2020, ODU is scheduled to travel to Buffalo (Sept. 12), host Wake Forest (Sept. 19), and visit North Carolina (Sept. 26).

Great series! I see ODU taking one of those.
Me too! This will actually be a really good series for both of them.
