The Northern Illinois Huskies and the Wyoming Cowboys have scheduled a 2015-16 home-and-home football series, NIU announced today.
Northern Illinois will host Wyoming at Huskie Stadium in Dekalb on Sept. 26, 2015. NIU will then return the trip to War Memorial Stadium in Laramie on Sept. 3, 2016.
“This is a great series for our fans and for our football team,” NIU Associate Vice-President and Director of Athletics Jeff Compher said. “Wyoming will bring a highly-competitive Mountain West Conference team to Huskie Stadium, and in 2016, Northern Illinois players and fans will have a chance to visit one of the most scenic states in the nation.”
The Huskies, members of the MAC, and the Cowboys, members of the MWC, have never met on the football field.
Northern Illinois now has two non-conference games scheduled for the 2015 season. The Huskies are also slated to visit Ohio State on Sept. 12. Wyoming is the first scheduled game for NIU in 2016.
The addition of the series with the Huskies gives Wyoming a total of three non-conference games in both 2015 and 2016. The Cowboys are scheduled to open the 2015 season at home vs. North Dakota (Sept. 5) and host Eastern Michigan (Sept. 19).
After opening at home vs. Northern Illinois in 2016, Wyoming travels to Nebraska (Sept. 17) and Eastern Michigan (Sept. 24).
Football Schedules:
The game against Utah State will be a conference game since the Aggies join the MWC in 2013.
Thanks. I just realized that.
