The UConn Huskies and UMass Minutemen have rescheduled a previously canceled football game for the 2029 season, FBSchedules.com has learned.
Back in 2022, UConn and UMass extended their football series through the 2027 season. However, one contest, a scheduled tilt at UConn on November 29, 2025, was not played due to UMass rejoining the Mid-American Conference.
The two schools have moved to reschedule that game, according to a copy of a contract amendment obtained from the University of Connecticut via a state public records request. Per the amendment, UConn will host UMass on August 25, 2029 at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field.
Two UConn-UMass games that were part of the contract extension remain unaffected. UConn is scheduled to host UMass in East Hartford this season on Friday, October 23 before traveling to face the Minutemen next fall on October 16, 2027 at McGuirk Alumni Stadium in Amherst, Mass.
UConn and UMass have met 78 times on the gridiron in a series that began in 1897. The Huskies have won three consecutive games, including a 47-42 result in their most recent meeting in 2024, which evened the series at 38-38-2.
With UMass added, UConn now has eight opponents slated for the 2029 season. Other opponents include Wyoming, Duke, Boston College, and Southern Miss at home, with Purdue, Rutgers, and Buffalo on the road.
UConn becomes the fourth non-conference opponent added to UMass’ 2029 slate, which will undergo more changes as the MAC will be shifting to a nine-game conference schedule in 2028. Currently, the Minutemen are slated to visit UCF on Aug. 30 while hosting Bryant on Sept. 8 and Temple on Sept. 29.

UConn should join the MAC for football only so they can play UMass every year.
