The South Alabama Jaguars have added the Southeastern Louisiana Lions to their 2023 football schedule, per USA’s official athletics website.
South Alabama will host Southeastern Louisiana at Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile, Ala., on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023. The game will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.
South Alabama is also scheduled to host Southeastern Louisiana on Sept. 5, 2026, which was previously announced.
Southeastern Louisiana is a member of the Southland Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The Lions are scheduled to play a six-game conference schedule this spring beginning on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, at the Sam Houston State Bearkats.
With the addition of Southeastern Louisiana, the South Alabama Jaguars have tentatively completed their non-conference schedule for the 2023 season. The Jags are scheduled to open the season at Tulane on Sept. 2 and will also play at Oklahoma State on Sept. 16 and host Central Michigan in Mobile on Sept. 23.
South Alabama is the second non-conference opponent and second Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) opponent scheduled for Southeastern Louisiana in 2023. The Lions are scheduled to open the 2023 season on the road against the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Sept. 2.
