The SEC football opponents for the 2026 through 2029 seasons have been announced. The 2026 season will mark the first for the league with a nine-game conference schedule format.
Beginning in 2026, SEC teams in 2026 will play a nine-game conference schedule with three non-conference opponents. One of those three non-conference opponents is required to be a power opponent from the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12 or Notre Dame, as it has been since 2016.
Each SEC team has been assigned three permanent opponents, or rivals, that they will play each season. The remaining six opponents will rotate each season so that each SEC school plays every other team in the league in a four-year span.
Below are the permanent opponents that have been set for each SEC member:

FOOTBALL SCHEDULES

Texas won’t come here to Baton Rouge to play LSU until next year..
And? That’s what the article says. Texas playing @LSU in 2026 (i.e. next year). What’s your point??
Yep. 2026. Next year.
Still have to wait another year before Georgia goes to Texas A&M in 2027. Georgia has never gone to College Station since Texas A&M joined the SEC in 2012!!!!!!!!!!
15 YEARS – Ludacris scheduling business plan
It’s honestly quite amazing that anything has happened in that time since apparently the entire functioning of the planet seems to revolve around Georgia playing at Texas A&M.
But thankfully, in 2027 we will finally have peace in the Middle East, an end to world hunger and love and harmony will reign all thanks to Georgia finally playing at Texas A&M.
How have we survived this long is nothing short of a miracle!
but at least there is now a set rotation, every four years UGA at A&M. The idea of protected rivalries was a good idea for the SEC – the Big12 collapsed when they didn’t protect OU-NU. In the 90s the SEC went too far with two protected cross-division rivalries every year, and when the conference went to 14 teams, the idea of seven cross-division rivalries was way too much. At least the BigTen saw that error, and only protected IU-Purdue when they expanded.
I didn’t know Ludacris scheduled SEC football games. Wonder if he consulted with Jay-Z or the Wu-Tang Clan.
The Big 12 did not collapse because they didn’t protect OU-NU. The Big 12 collapsed because Texas yielded too much power. And for the record, only NU seems to care about that game. Sooner fans could care less about it, they care more about Texas and Oklahoma State. I am not even sure Nebraska is #3.
What you want them to change the schedule for this year half way thru the season? You can handle waiting until next year for the game.
Looks like Georgia-Ole Miss will kick off the initial 9 game 2026 SEC season.
UGA has all 12 opponents and no game on Sep 5. Only SEC opponent of theirs that is free on that date is Ole Miss. Ole Miss still needs to schedule one P4 non-conference game. They are currently in talks with Pittsburgh, which isn’t free on Sep 5. So it pretty much has to be this matchup in week 1 unless teams move the dates of their non-con games.
The SEC as well as other real big conference like the Big 10, Big 12, and ACC should go to 10 conference games every year. It would help out with scheduling with each team getting 5 home and 5 road conference games, not where a few teams get 5 home and 4 road, while some get 4 home and 5 road, this way it would be more fair to each team. Plus you are playing for a conference title, so more conference games is always better.
Well, they are also required to play 1 power 4 team out of conference. Most teams could just plan that game to be the 5th game on the home or away slate based on their conference schedule.
Or, if everyone did a neutral sight conference game like Texas/OU and Florida/Georgia, then the conference slate is 4/4/1 (but then the non-conference game actually unbalances the schedule).
Texas in Fayetteville for the 60th anniversary of the Game of the Century. ABC should air the game with a 1969-style presentation, as if the year 1969 never ended.
