The Iowa State Cyclones and Bowling Green Falcons have shifted the date of their 2027 football game, according to an official announcement Thursday.
The two programs were originally slated to meet on September 18, 2027, at Doyt Perry Stadium in Bowling Green, Ohio. Earlier this year, Iowa State revealed the game had been relocated to Jack Trice Stadium in Ames while retaining the same date.
That date will no longer hold. Iowa State announced today that the contest has been moved up two weeks and will now be played on September 4, 2027. It marks the second game in a two‑game series between the schools; the first was played last week on Sept. 19, a 55–7 Cyclones victory.
“This agreement allows for us to open the 2027 season with three straight home games,” Endowed Iowa State Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard said. “It will be a great opportunity for Coach Rogers and the program to start his second season in front of our outstanding fan base.”
According to an amendment obtained from Bowling Green State University via a state public records request, Iowa State will pay Bowling Green a $400,000 guarantee for the 2026 game and $1.1 million for the 2027 matchup.
The Cyclones are scheduled to open the 2027 season at home on August 28 against South Dakota State. After hosting Bowling Green, Iowa State welcomes rival Iowa on Sept. 11 for the annual Iowa Corn Cy‑Hawk Series.
The Big 12 has already released next season’s conference opponents. Iowa State will host Colorado, Houston, TCU, and UCF, and will travel to Arizona State, Kansas, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, and West Virginia.
The date change also affects Bowling Green’s previously scheduled trip to Ohio State. The Falcons were set to visit the Buckeyes on September 4, 2027; that game could now shift to the August 28 season opener or another date.
Bowling Green’s other non‑conference opponents next season include Rhode Island at home on Sept. 11 and a road trip to Marshall on Sept. 25.
