Iowa adds Nevada to 2022 football schedule

The Iowa Hawkeyes have added the Nevada Wolf Pack to their 2022 football schedule, the school announced on Wednesday.

Iowa will host Nevada at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City on Sept. 17, 2022. The game will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.

The addition of Nevada completes Iowa’s football schedule for the 2022 season. The Hawkeyes open the 2022 season at home against South Dakota State on Sept. 3 and then entertain Iowa State on Sept. 10, one week before the Nevada contest.

The South Dakota State-Iowa game was previously scheduled for Sept. 17, but was moved to Sept. 3 to accommodate the addition of the Nevada contest.

Iowa kicks off Big Ten play in 2022 on the road against Minnesota on Sept. 24. Other conference road games for Iowa include Purdue (Oct. 8), Ohio State (Oct. 15), Rutgers (Nov. 5), and Illinois (Nov. 12).

Big Ten home games for Iowa in 2022 include Michigan (Oct. 1), Northwestern (Oct. 29: Homecoming), Wisconsin (Nov. 19), and Nebraska (Friday, Nov. 25).

Iowa’s open date in 2022 is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 22.

Iowa is the second scheduled non-conference opponent for Nevada for the 2022 season. The Wolf Pack are also scheduled to play at New Mexico State on a date to be determined since it was previously scheduled for Sept. 17.

In Mountain West Conference action in 2022, Nevada is scheduled to host Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, and San Diego State and play at Air Force, Hawaii, San Jose State, and UNLV.

Football Schedules
