The Colorado State Rams have added a pair of Texas schools to their future football schedules, the school announced on Tuesday.

Colorado State will play a home-and-home football series with the Sam Houston Bearkats. The series will begin with Colorado State traveling to take on Sam Houston at Bowers Stadium in Huntsville, Texas, on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2027. The series will conclude the following season when the Rams host the Bearkats at Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins, Colo., on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2028.

Sam Houston is currently a member of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The Bearkats are moving up to the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) next season and will begin play in Conference USA.

Colorado State has also added a single home game against the Houston Baptist Huskies on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2027. The Huskies are a member of the Southland Conference in the FCS.

Colorado State has never faced Sam Houston or Houston Baptist on the gridiron.

With the addition of games against Sam Houston and Houston Baptist, Colorado State has now completed its non-conference schedule through the 2027 season. The Rams need two more opponents to complete their schedule for the 2028 season.

The 2022 season will be the first for Colorado State under head coach Jay Norvell. Norvell previously coached at Nevada from 2017 through 2021 and compiled an overall record of 33-26 with four bowl appearances.
