Alcorn State announces fall 2021 football schedule

By Kevin Kelley -

The Alcorn State Braves have announced their fall 2021 football schedule, which includes two SWAC contests at home and six on the road.

Alcorn State will open the 2021 season in Week Zero on Saturday, Aug. 28 in the Cricket Wireless MEAC/SWAC Challenge against North Carolina Central at Center Parc Stadium in Atlanta, GA.

Following an open date, Alcorn State opens their three-game home slate at Jack Spinks Stadium in Lorman, Miss., on Sept. 11 against Northwestern State. The Braves then travel to take on South Alabama on Sept. 18, which will conclude the non-conference portion of their 2021 slate.

Alcorn State opens a rather unique Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) schedule on Sept. 25 on the road against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, which is the first of six conference road games. After hosting Grambling State on Oct. 9, Alcorn returns to the road for four consecutive conference contests – at Mississippi Valley State (Oct. 16), at Texas Southern (Oct. 23), at Southern (Oct. 30), and at Bethune-Cookman (Nov. 6).

The Braves welcome Prairie View A&M to Lorman on Nov. 13 for Senior Day before returning to the road to close the regular-season at Jackson State on Nov. 20.

The 2021 SWAC Championship Game is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 4 at a site to be determined.

Below is Alcorn State’s complete fall 2021 football schedule, which will be updated with kickoff times and television coverage as they are announced:

Alcorn State did not play football during the 2020-21 season. The fall 2020 SWAC season was postponed to spring of 2021, and the Braves opted out of those contests about two weeks before kickoff. That decision likely led to their unique SWAC schedule for fall 2021.
