2020 Preseason AP Poll released

The 2020 Preseason AP Poll has been released and the Clemson Tigers are ranked first. Clemson received 38 first-place votes and 1,520 total points.

Clemson is also ranked first in the Coaches Poll that was released on Thursday, August 6.

The Ohio State Buckeyes, which will not be playing this fall due to the Big Ten postponing their season, come in at number two in the AP Poll. Teams such as Ohio State that are not playing this fall will not be included in the poll moving forward.

Ohio State received 21 first-place votes and 1,504 total points. The Alabama Crimson Tide are ranked third and received two first place votes and 1,422 points overall.

Georgia and Oklahoma round out the preseason AP Top 5.

The SEC leads all conferences with seven teams in the AP Top 25 poll. The Big Ten is second with six teams, followed by the Big-12 with four teams in the Top 25. Listed below is the full conference breakdown:

  • Pac-12 – 3
  • AAC – 2

Let’s see, BigTen and PAC-12 aren’t playing fall football, so we need a revised top-25. Those teams along with others can’t be included, I would think.
