The Western Michigan Broncos will play at the Wisconsin Badgers in 2026, the school announced on Tuesday.

Western Michigan will travel to face Wisconsin at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison on Sept. 5, 2026. The Broncos will receive a $1.5 million guarantee for the game, according to WMU’s release.

Western Michigan and Wisconsin last met in the 2017 Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic, which resulted in a 24-16 win for the Badgers. The two schools first met on the gridiron in 1963 and Wisconsin leads the overall series 4-1.

Wisconsin is the first announced non-conference opponent for Western Michigan for the 2026 season. The Broncos release stated that they will announce more future non-conference opponents on Wednesday and Friday of this week.

The addition of Western Michigan gives Wisconsin two non-conference games for their 2026 football schedule. The Badgers are also scheduled to host the Pitt Panthers on Sept. 19 that season.

Western Michigan is scheduled to open the 2019 season on Saturday, Aug. 31 at home in Kalamazoo against the Monmouth Hawks. Wisconsin opens the season one day prior on Friday, Aug. 30 in Tampa against the USF Bulls.
