The VMI Keydets and the Bucknell Bison are scheduled to play two sets of home-and-home football series beginning in 2022.

Back in 2015, the two schools agreed to meet in 2022 at VMI’s Foster Stadium in Lexington, Va., and in 2023 at Bucknell’s Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium in Lewisburg, Pa.

About five months later, the two schools entered into an agreement to play two more games. Those games are scheduled to be played at VMI in 2024 and at Bucknell in 2025.

According to a copy of the contract obtained from Virginia Military Institute (VMI) via a state Freedom of Information Act request, VMI have extended their future football series another two seasons.

VMI will host Bucknell at Foster Stadium on Sept. 12, 2026 and will travel to take on the Bison at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium the following season on Sept. 25, 2027.

VMI and Bucknell first met on the gridiron in 1978 and have played a total of five contests. In their most recent meeting in 2016, VMI defeated Bucknell 23-17 in triple-overtime.

An additional document obtained by FBSchedules.com has revealed that the date of the 2024 contest between the two schools has changed. Previously scheduled for Sept. 14, VMI will now host Bucknell on Sept. 7 that season.

Below are the dates for all six scheduled VMI-Bucknell games:

  • Sept. 10, 2022 – at VMI
  • Sept. 9, 2023 – at Bucknell
  • Sept. 7, 2024 – at VMI
  • Sept. 13, 2025 – at Bucknell
