Vanderbilt at Georgia game postponed, rescheduled for December 19

By Kevin Kelley -

The Vanderbilt Commodores at Georgia Bulldogs football game has been postponed due to COVID-19, the SEC announced on Friday.

The two schools were scheduled to meet at Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Ga., on Saturday, Dec. 5. The contest has been rescheduled for Saturday, Dec. 19 and will be played if Georgia does not qualify for the SEC Championship Game.

Vanderbilt-Georgia was postponed due to “…the Vanderbilt football squad size and position availability falling below roster minimum requirements, consistent with Southeastern Conference COVID-19 protocols.”

Vanderbilt is 0-8 this season and the school fired head coach Derek Mason earlier this week. Offensive coordinator Todd Fitch will serves as the Commodores’ interim head coach.

Georgia is 6-2 and currently ranked 8th in the latest College Football Playoff Rankings. Both Georgia and Vanderbilt have no game currently scheduled for December 12, but the SEC is expected to announce schedule revisions later today.
