The UTSA Roadrunners have added the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks to their 2020 football schedule, the school announced on Thursday.
UTSA will host Stephen F. Austin at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, on Saturday, Sept. 19. The game will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.
UTSA was previously scheduled to host Grambling State in 2020, but the game was canceled when the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) postponed their season due to the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
Stephen F. Austin, a member of the Southland Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), is one of a handful of FCS teams that are playing fall non-conference schedule. The Lumberjacks are also scheduled to play at the SMU Mustangs on Saturday, Sept. 26.
Earlier on Thursday, Brett McMurphy of Stadium reported that UTSA will travel to face the BYU Cougars on Oct. 10, 2020. That game was not announced today, which likely means the contract hasn’t yet been executed fully.
UTSA now has 10 games on their 2020 football schedule. The Roadrunners are currently scheduled to open the season at Texas State on Sept. 12 if they don’t fill Sept. 5 with another opponent.
