The Tulsa Golden Hurricane at Navy Midshipmen football game has been postponed due to COVID-19, it was announced on Thursday.

The two schools were scheduled to meet at Navy-Marine Corps Mem. Stadium in Annapolis, Md., on Saturday, Nov. 7. Although the two schools do not share an open date, the American Athletic Conference will attempt to reschedule the game.

Navy is 3-4 so far this season and 3-2 in conference action. The Midshipmen’s next contest is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 14 at home against the Memphis Tigers.

“We are disappointed not to face Tulsa this weekend, however protocols and guidelines are very comprehensive both at the Naval Academy and within the American Athletic Conference,” said Naval Academy Director of Athletics Chet Gladchuk. “There are a number of medical personnel that have reviewed all the related issues and, in the end, an administrative decision has been made that clearly reflects the safety and welfare of all involved with both institutions.”

Tulsa, currently 3-1 overall and 3-0 in American play, is next scheduled to play on Saturday, Nov. 14 when they host the 18th-ranked SMU Mustangs.

“We knew that this season would be different in the face of the pandemic, and unfortunately has forced another weekend without football for our team,” said Tulsa Director of Athletics Rick Dickson. “I’m disappointed for our football student-athletes and coaches who continue to work and practice diligently, but it reinforces the challenge facing all programs.”
