The Toledo Rockets will play at the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in 2021, the school announced on Monday.
The game will be played at Notre Dame Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021 and it will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.
“We are very pleased and excited to add Notre Dame to our 2021 football schedule,” said UT vice-president and athletic director Mike O’Brien. “Notre Dame has one of the greatest college football traditions in the country so it definitely will be a matchup our football team will be looking forward to. The game also has the added benefit of only being just a two-and-a-half hour drive from Toledo, so I know many of our fans will travel to South Bend for the contest.”
Notre Dame is the second announced non-conference game for Toledo for the 2021 season. The Rockets are also scheduled to host the Colorado State Rams on Sept. 25.
The Fighting Irish now have ten games tentatively set for their 2021 schedule. Notre Dame is also slated to host Purdue, Georgia Tech, Navy, North Carolina, and USC and play at Florida State, Virginia Tech, Stanford, and Virginia.
