The Toledo Rockets have added the Duquesne Dukes to their 2024 football schedule, FBSchedules.com has learned.
A copy of the football game contract with Duquesne University was obtained from the University of Toledo via a state public records request.
Toledo will host Duquesne at the Glass Bowl in Toledo, Ohio, on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024. The Rockets will pay the Dukes a $325,000 guarantee for playing the game, according to the copy of the contract.
The 2024 Toledo-Duquesne contest will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.
Duquesne is a member of the Northeast Conference (NEC) in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). Their fall 2020 season was postponed and the NEC is expected to play a four-game conference schedule beginning on March 5-7, 2021.
With the addition of Duquesne, Toledo has tentatively completed their non-conference schedule for the 2024 season. The Rockets are also slated to host the UMass Minutemen on Sept. 7 and travel to face the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers on Sept. 14 and the Maryland Terrapins on Sept. 21.
Duquesne now has two known non-conference opponents for the 2024 season. The Dukes are also scheduled to play at the Youngstown State Penguins on Sept. 14 that season.
