The Texas Longhorns have announced a revised non-conference football schedule for the 2027 season, which includes games against New Mexico State, Michigan, and UTEP.
All three games were previously announced, but new dates have been assigned for each contest that are one week earlier than originally scheduled.
The date adjustments follow the NCAA’s June decision to adopt a uniform 14‑week regular season beginning in 2027. Under the new model, FBS programs may begin most seasons during what is currently known as Week Zero—the weekend before Labor Day—which will become the standard Week 1.
Texas will now open the 2027 season on Saturday, August 28 against New Mexico State at Darrell K Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, Texas. The following week on September 4, the Longhorns will welcome the Michigan Wolverines to Austin, which is the conclusion of a home-and-home series that began with a 31-12 Longhorns victory in Ann Arbor in 2024.
The third and final non-conference opponent for Texas next season is UTEP at home on September 11.
The SEC previously revealed the conference opponents for each league member in 2027. Texas will host Auburn, Georgia, Kentucky, Oklahoma (in Dallas), and Texas A&M, while traveling to Alabama, Arkansas, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt.
Texas is set to open the 2026 season on Saturday, Sept. 5 at home against Texas State. The game will air on ESPN at 3:30pm ET / 2:30pm CT.
