The Tarleton State Texans and the Southeastern Louisiana Lions have scheduled a home-and-home football series for the 2023 and 2024 seasons, FBSchedules.com has learned.
A copy of the contract with Southeastern Louisiana University was obtained from Tarleton State University via a state of Texas Public Information Act request.
In the first game of the series, Tarleton State will travel to play Southeastern Louisiana at Strawberry Stadium in Hammond, La., on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023. The series will conclude the following season when the Texans host the Lions at Memorial Stadium in Stephenville, Texas, on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024.
The 2023 Tarleton State-Southeastern Louisiana contest will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.
Tarleton State moved up from Division II to the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) in 2020 and now competes in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). Southeastern Louisiana has been a member of the Southland Conference since 1997.

Tarleton’s 2024 slate includes home games against McNeese and Kennesaw State and road games against Baylor, Houston Baptist, and Missouri State.
Southeastern Louisiana now has three non-conference opponents set for each season. The Lions have road tilts scheduled at Mississippi State and South Alabama in 2023 and Tulane and Southern Miss in 2024.
