The Tarleton State Texans have added six opponents to their future football schedules, FBSchedules.com has learned.
Tarleton State University, located in Stephenville, Texas, will begin competing as an Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Independent beginning with the 2020 season. The Texans have been playing as a member of the Lone Star Conference in Division II since 1995.
According to copies of contracts obtained from Tarleton State University via a Texas Public Information Act request, the Texans have added multiple-game series with Bethune-Cookman, Kennesaw State, Missouri State, South Dakota State, McNeese, and Houston Baptist to their future football schedules.
A few of the contests are included on Tarleton State’s 2020 football schedule, which the school officially released back in January.
Below are the six opponents Tarleton State has scheduled with details on each series:
Tarleton State and the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats will play a home-and-home series that begins at Daytona Stadium in Daytona Beach, Fla., on Oct. 31, 2020. The Texans will host the Wildcats the following season at Memorial Stadium in Stephenville, Texas, on Oct. 30, 2021.
The Texans have scheduled a three-game series with the Kennesaw State Owls that kicks off at Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Kennesaw, Ga., on Sept. 26, 2020. Tarleton State will also play at Kennesaw State on Nov. 13, 2021.
The third and final game of the series is scheduled for Nov. 2, 2024 in Stephenville. The teams will exchange $25,000 guarantees for the 2020 and 2021 games, while there is no guarantee for the game in 2024.
Tarleton State and the Missouri State Bears will play a home-and-home series. Tarleton State will host the first game on Nov. 7, 2020 before traveling to face the Bears in Springfield, Mo., four seasons later on Sept. 21, 2024.
The Texans and the South Dakota State Jackrabbits will begin a home-and-home series on Sept. 11, 2021 in Brookings, S.D. Tarleton State will host the Jackrabbits at Memorial Stadium four seasons later on Sept. 20, 2025.
South Dakota State was previously scheduled to host Delaware State on Sept. 11, 2021, so they will have to postpone or cancel that contest.
Tarleton State will travel to face the McNeese Cowboys in the first game of a home-and-home series at Cowboy Stadium in Lake Charles, La., on Sept. 2, 2023. The series will conclude the following season in Stephenville on Sept. 14, 2024.
Tarleton State will open a home-and-home series with the Houston Baptist Huskies at Husky Stadium in Houston, Texas, on Sept. 7, 2024. The Texans will host the Huskies the following season in Stephenville on Sept. 13, 2025, which will conclude the series.
