The Syracuse Orange have added the Wagner Seahawks to their 2022 football schedule, the school announced Wednesday morning.
The game is slated to be played Saturday, Sept. 24. Syracuse and Wagner have battled twice on the gridiron, with a 55-point decision going to the Orange in the most recent outing in 2018.
Wagner, of the FCS Northeast Conference, finished the 2019 campaign 1-11 (1-6 NEC).
The game completes the 2022 non-league slate for Syracuse. The Orange head to Connecticut to battle UConn September 10, before returning home to welcome Purdue. A home game with Notre Dame (date TBA) rounds out the non-ACC contests.
The Orange will welcome three FCS opponents over the next three years. Colgate is slated to visit Saturday, Sept. 19, followed by UAlbany on Saturday, Sept. 18, along with the Wagner contest. Wagner will play at Miami (FL) on Saturday, Sept. 12, with FBS games planned at Buffalo (Sept. 4) and Temple (Sept. 25) in 2021.
This is almost becoming an annual rivalry for Syracuse. Got to do what you have to, to turn your program around.
