The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks have added the Pittsburg State Gorillas to their 2020 football schedule, the school announced on Saturday.
Stephen F. Austin will host Pittsburg State at Homer Bryce Stadium in Nacogdoches, Texas, on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020. The game will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.
Stephen F. Austin is a member of the Southland Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The Lumberjacks are playing a full non-conference schedule this fall and will not compete in conference action next spring.
Pittsburg State is a member of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) in Division II. The Gorillas finished the 2019 season 6-5 overall.
“Though the conference football season is canceled, we are committed to assembling an abbreviated non-conference schedule,” said Pitt State Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Jim Johnson. “This is important for next season, for our seniors who’ll soon leave us, and for our community. We look forward to it.”
Stephen F. Austin now has nine games on their 2020 football schedule, two of which have already been played. The Lumberjacks are 0-2 so far this season after losing back-to-back games at the UTEP Miners on Saturday, Sept. 5, 24-14, and at the UTSA Roadrunners on Saturday, Sept. 19, 24-10.
The next game for the Lumberjacks is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26 at the SMU Mustangs.
