South Dakota State to host Drake in 2023 and 2025

The South Dakota State Jackrabbits have scheduled two future football games with the Drake Bulldogs, FBSchedules.com has learned.

A copy of the contract for two games against Drake University was obtained from South Dakota State University via a state public records request.

South Dakota State will host Drake at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium in Brookings, S.D., on Sept. 16, 2023 and then again two seasons later on Sept. 6, 2025. The Jackrabbits will pay the Bulldogs a $205,000 guarantee for the contest in 2023 and a $210,000 guarantee for the contest in 2025, according to the copy of the contract.

South Dakota State, a member of the Missouri Valley Football Conference, and Drake, a member of the Pioneer Football League, first met on the gridiron in 1945 and have played 13 times overall. In their most recent matchup in 2019, the Jackrabbits defeated the Bulldogs 38-10, but Drake still leads the overall series 8-5.

Drake is the first scheduled non-conference opponent for South Dakota State for the 2023 season. In 2025, the Jackrabbits are scheduled to play at the Tarleton State Texans on Sept. 20.

South Dakota State is the second non-conference opponent for Drake in 2023, joining a contest at North Dakota on Sept. 2. The Jackrabbits are the first known non-conference opponent for Drake in 2025.
