The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers at Charlotte 49ers football game scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 28 has been rescheduled, it was announced on Monday.

Western Kentucky will now travel to take on Charlotte at Jerry Richardson Stadium in Charlotte, N.C., on Tuesday, Dec. 1. The game will be televised by CBS Sports Network at 10:30am ET.

According to the release, the postponement of the game to Tuesday “…allows the 49ers to clear COVID-19 protocols that would have prevented Charlotte from competing this Saturday.”

“We appreciate WKU working with us and the league office to make this game happen,” said 49ers’ Director of Athletics Mike Hill. “This has been a challenging season for our team, and we are grateful for each and every opportunity we have to compete. It took some creativity – but we are willing to look at all options to reward our student-athletes for all the work they continue to put forth.”

Charlotte is 2-3 overall and 2-1 in Conference USA action this season. The 49ers have not played since a 53-19 loss at Duke on Oct. 31 due to cancellations of games against Middle Tennessee (Nov. 7), Gardner-Webb (Nov. 14), and Marshall (Nov. 21).

Western Kentucky, 4-6 overall and 3-3 in Conference USA play, is coming off of back-to-back wins at home against Southern Miss, 10-7, on Nov. 14 and FIU, 38-21, on Nov. 21.
