The San Jose State Spartans have added the Sacred Heart Pioneers to their 2027 football schedule, according to an official announcement Wednesday.
San Jose State will host Sacred Heart at CEFCU Stadium in San Jose, Calif., on Thursday, August 26, 2027. The game will mark the season-opener and the first-ever meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.
“We are excited to lock in another quality home matchup and kick off the 2027 season in front of our fans at CEFCU Stadium,” said SJSU Director of Athletics Jeff Konya. “Home openers bring a fantastic energy to campus, and we look forward to welcoming Sacred Heart to San José State.”
Sacred Heart is a member of the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The Pioneers are 1-3 overall this season with a 1-2 mark in CAA play.
Sacred Heart is the fourth scheduled non-conference opponent for San Jose State for the 2027 season. The Spartans are also slated to visit Minnesota on Sept. 2 and Sacramento State on Sept. 25, while hosting North Texas on Oct. 2.
San Jose State is the second scheduled non-conference opponent for Sacred Heart in 2027, joining a Sept. 11 home matchup against Morgan State.
The Pioneers also have a future FBS game scheduled against Akron in 2030. Sacred Heart played UMass earlier this season, falling 37-10.
