Samford releases 2019 football schedule

The Samford Bulldogs have released their 2019 football schedule, which features a game at Auburn.

Samford will open the 2019 season in the Guardian Credit Union FCS Kickoff against Youngstown State. The game will be played in Week Zero on Saturday, Aug. 24 at the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Alabama.

The following week on Aug. 31, Samford travels to face the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles.

After their first open date of the season, Samford travels to take on the Wofford Terriers on Sept. 14. The Bulldogs then host the Alabama A&M Bulldogs in their home-opener at Seibert Stadium in Homewood, Alabama, on Sept. 21.

The Alabama A&M-Samford non-conference matchup was previously unannounced.

Samford begins Southern Conference (SoCon) play with back-to-back games at home against The Citadel Bulldogs on Sept. 28 and the Furman Paladins on Oct. 5.

Next, the Bulldogs travel to take on the VMI Keydets on Oct. 12 before they have their second open date of the season on Oct. 19.

The ETSU Buccaneers visit Homewood on Oct. 26 before Samford hits the road to take on the Mercer Bears on Nov. 2. Samford then returns to Seibert Stadium to host the Chattanooga Mocs on Nov. 9.

Samford closes out the 2019 regular-season with consecutive games on the road. The Bulldogs play at the Western Carolina Catamounts on Nov. 16 and at the Auburn Tigers on Nov. 23.

Samford finished the 2018 season 6-5 overall and 5-3 in SoCon play. The Bulldogs claimed the SoCon championship in 2013, their only conference title.
