The Rice Owls have added the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to their 2014 football schedule, the school announced today.
Rice will travel to play Notre Dame in South Bend on a date to be determined. The game will be the fifth meeting between the schools.
Notre Dame leads the overall series 4-0. The last meeting between the two schools was Nov. 5, 1988 at Notre Dame Stadium. The Irish won that game 54-11.
With the addition of Notre Dame, Rice now has four non-conference games scheduled for 2014. The Owls have home games against Navy (9/13) and Wake Forest (TBA) and a road game against Army (10/11).
Notre Dame’s 2014 schedule is now complete. The Irish have home games vs. Michigan (09/06), Purdue (9/13), Syracuse (9/27), Pittsburgh (11/8), Northwestern (11/15) and Stanford. Road games include Temple (10/11), Arizona State (10/25), Navy (11/01), USC (11/29), and vs. Army in Orlando (TBA).
Be nice if Notre Dame would come to Rice Stadium in return. Be nice to see those usual 50k seats with butts in them.
