The Rice Owls and the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns have scheduled a home-and-home football series for 2022 and 2025, both schools announced on Monday.
In the first game of the series, Rice will host Louisiana on Sept. 10, 2022 at Rice Stadium in Houston. The Owls will then travel to face the Ragin’ Cajuns at Cajun Field in Lafayette on Sept. 6, 2025.
Rice and Louisiana first met on the gridiron in 1921 and squared off most recently in 1989. The Ragin’ Cajuns currently lead the overall series 3-2 after claiming victories in the last two meetings.
The Owls now have three announced non-conference games for the 2022 season. Also scheduled are games at the USC Trojans on Sept. 3 and at the Houston Cougars on Sept. 24.
In 2025, Rice is also scheduled to host the Northwestern Wildcats on Sept. 20.
Rice is the first scheduled non-conference opponent for the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns for both the 2022 and 2025 seasons.
Rice is scheduled to open the 2018 season at home in Week Zero on Saturday, Aug. 25 against the Prairie View A&M Panthers. The Ragin’ Cajuns open the 2018 season one week later at home on Saturday, Sept. 1 against the Grambling State Tigers.
