The Oregon Ducks have added the Sacramento State Hornets to their 2028 football schedule, according to an official announcement from the University of Oregon.
Oregon will host Sacramento State at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Ore., on Saturday, September 9, 2028. The game will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.
Oregon and Sacramento have never met on the gridiron in their history. The Ducks hold a 1-0 record over current members of the Mid-American Conference (MAC), while the Hornets dropped their only contest against a Big Ten opponent (Washington).
With the addition of Sacramento State, Oregon has tentatively completed its non-conference schedule for 2028. The Ducks are currently scheduled to host North Dakota State on Sept. 2 and visit in-state rival Oregon State on Sept. 16 that season.
In Big Ten action in 2028, Oregon will host Illinois, Michigan State, Rutgers, USC, and Washington, while visiting Indiana, Minnesota, Penn State, and Wisconsin.
Oregon is the first announced non-league opponent for Sacramento State in 2028. The Hornets now have three openings to go along with eight MAC opponents.

Main reason why Big Ten do not want to play P4 OOC opponents is that want to prove that they want to be best of P4 conferences & I do not blame Big Ten that want to win many games as possible.
Yeah, it’s disappointing that Oregon is following Indiana’s lead and not playing P4 nonconference opponents. They have no P4 nonconference opponents after 2026.

This is one reason to favor twenty-four team playoffs; Just winning your conference is likely not enough, if you can do that!
The money can be made for actually playing and winning, and favoritism is reduced.
