The Old Dominion Monarchs have added the Hampton Pirates to their 2021 football schedule, according to ODU’s official athletics website.

Old Dominion will host Hampton at Kornblau Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium in Norfolk, Va., on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021. The game will mark the sixth overall meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.

Old Dominion, a member of Conference USA, and Hampton, a member of the Big South Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), first met on the gridiron in 2010. The Monarchs currently hold a 5-0 advantage in the series.

Old Dominion and Hampton were scheduled to square off in Norfolk on Sept. 12, 2020, but the game was canceled due to the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. The Monarchs canceled their entire 2020 season, while the Pirates canceled their fall season and then opted out of playing this spring.

With the addition of Hampton, Old Dominion has completed their non-conference schedule for the 2021 season. The Monarchs are scheduled to open the season on the road against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Saturday, Sept. 4. ODU will also travel to take on the Liberty Flames on Sept. 18 and host the Buffalo Bulls on Sept. 25.

Hampton now has four non-conference opponents set for their 2021 slate. In addition to Old Dominion, the Pirates are scheduled to host the Norfolk State Spartans on Oct. 23 and the Virginia Union Panthers on a date to be determined. The Pirates are also scheduled to play at the Howard Bison, also on a date to be announced.
