The Old Dominion Monarchs have added the Hampton Pirates to their 2020 football schedule, FBSchedules.com has learned.

A copy of the game contract was obtained from Old Dominion University via a state of Virginia Freedom of Information Act request.

Old Dominion will host Hampton at Kornblau Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium in Norfolk, Va., on September 12, 2020. Old Dominion will pay Hampton a $190,000 guarantee for the game, according to the copy of the contract.

Old Dominion and Hampton first met on the gridiron in 2010 and have played a total of five contests. In their most recent matchup in 2016, the Monarchs defeated the Pirates 54-21 to remain unbeaten at 5-0.

Hampton is a member of the Big South Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). Located in Hampton, Va., Hampton University is only about a 14 mile drive from Old Dominion University.

The addition of Hampton tentatively completes Old Dominion’s non-conference football schedule for the 2020 season. The Monarchs are scheduled to open the season at home against Wake Forest on Sept. 5. ODU later plays at North Carolina on Sept. 26 and hosts Virginia on Nov. 21.

We’ve been told from a source that their are some changes to Old Dominion’s non-conference schedule forthcoming, but at this time we don’t know exactly that will entail.

Hampton how has three non-conference opponents scheduled for the 2020 season. The Pirates are scheduled to host Howard and play at Virginia-Union on dates to be announced.

With a seven-game Big South Conference schedule, Hampton needs one more non-conference opponent in 2020.
