The Ohio State Buckeyes have added the Toledo Rockets to their 2022 football schedule, both schools announced on Thursday.
Ohio State will host Toledo at Ohio Stadium in Columbus on Sept. 17, 2022. The game will be the fourth overall meeting between the two schools.
Ohio State and Toledo last met in Columbus in 2011. The Buckeyes slipped by the Rockets 27-22 in that contest and currently hold a 3-0 series advantage.
Toledo is the second announced non-conference opponent for Ohio State for the 2022 season. The Buckeyes are slated to open the season at home against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Sept. 3.
“We are very pleased to add Ohio State to our non-conference football schedule in 2022,” said Toledo vice president and athletic director Mike O’Brien. “Ohio State has one of the richest histories in college football and will be an exciting challenge for our program. We now will be playing at Michigan State (2020), Notre Dame (2021) and Ohio State (2022) in consecutive years. We think our players and our fans are very excited to be playing in these types of environments.”
Toledo is scheduled to play at the San Diego State Aztecs on Sept. 10, 2022. The Rockets need two more non-conference games to complete their schedule.
