The North Carolina Tar Heels have added the East Tennessee State Buccaneers to their 2022 football schedule, both schools announced on Thursday.
North Carolina will host ETSU at Kenan Memorial Stadium in Chapel Hill on Nov. 19, 2022. UNC will pay ETSU a $450,000 guarantee for the game, according to a release from the Buccaneers athletics department.
The addition of ETSU tentatively completes North Carolina’s non-conference schedule for the 2022 season. The Tar Heels are also scheduled to play consecutive road games at Appalachian State (Sept. 3) and Georgia State (Sept. 10) and will host Notre Dame on a date to be announced.
“We are very excited to make this game announcement and want to thank North Carolina for giving us this opportunity,” said ETSU head coach Randy Sanders. “This adds to an already strong list of teams we are preparing to play in the future, and it is great for our program to play teams from the ACC and SEC.”
ETSU now has future football games schedule against five FBS opponents. The Bucs will travel to face Tennessee (2018), Vanderbilt (2019, 2021), Appalachian State (2019, 2024), Georgia (2020), and North Carolina (2022).
