The North Alabama Lions have released their 2019 football schedule, which includes five games at home.

North Alabama moved up to the Football Championship Subdivision last season and is still in the reclassification process. The Lions will play a full conference schedule but are not eligible to win the conference championship or play in the FCS Playoffs until the 2022 season.

North Alabama will open the 2019 season at home at Braly Stadium in Florence against the Western Illinois Leathernecks on Thursday, Aug. 29. The Lions then travel to face the Montana Grizzlies on Sept. 7 before returning home to host the Alabama A&M Bulldogs on Sept. 14.

Up next for UNA are consecutive games on the road, first at the Jacksonville State Gamecocks on Sept. 21. That’s followed by an off week on Sept. 28 and then a trip to face the Hampton Pirates on Oct. 5 in their Big South Conference opener.

North Alabama was previously scheduled to host the Jackson State Tigers on Sept. 28, but that contest has been canceled and may not be rescheduled, per UNA Sports Information.

After their second off week of the season on Oct. 12, the Charleston Southern Buccaneers visit Braly Stadium on Oct. 19. UNA then travels to face the Kennesaw State Owls on Oct. 26.

North Alabama returns home on Nov. 2 to host the Campbell Camels before heading out again for back-to-back road games. UNA plays at the Monmouth Hawks on Nov. 9 and at the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs on Nov. 16.

The Lions close out the 2019 regular-season at home on Nov. 23 against the Presbyterian Blue Hose.
