The Norfolk State Spartans will play at the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in 2021 and at the Vanderbilt Commodores in 2024, FBSchedules.com has learned.

Copies of contracts for both games were obtained from Norfolk State University via a state of Virginia Freedom of Information Act request. Norfolk State has never squared off against Wake Forest or Vanderbilt on the gridiron.

Norfolk State will travel to take on Wake Forest at BB&T Field in Winston-Salem, N.C., on September 11, 2021. Wake Forest will pay Norfolk State a $300,000 guarantee for the contest, according to the copy of the contract.

Wake Forest is the third scheduled non-conference opponent for Norfolk State in 2021. The Spartans are also scheduled to play at Toledo on Sept. 4 and at Hampton on Oct. 23.

The addition of Norfolk State tentatively completes Wake Forest’s 2021 non-conference schedule. Other opponents for Wake Forest include Old Dominion at home (Sept. 4) and North Carolina (Sept. 25) and Army (Oct. 23) on the road.

Norfolk State will travel to face the Vanderbilt Commodores at Vanderbilt Stadium in Nashville, Tenn., on September 7, 2024. Norfolk State will receive a $400,000 guarantee for playing the game, per the contract copy.

Vanderbilt is the second scheduled non-conference opponent for Norfolk State in 2024. The Spartans are also slated to host Hampton on a date to be determined.

The Vanderbilt Commodores have tentatively completed their non-conference schedule for 2024 with the addition of Norfolk State. Vanderbilt is scheduled to host SMU on Sept. 14 and play at Georgia State on Sept. 28. Vandy was previously slated to play at Stanford on Sept. 7, so that contest will be moving to a new date.
