New Mexico adds Idaho State to 2020 football schedule

The New Mexico Lobos have added the Idaho State Bengals to their 2020 football schedule, FBSchedules.com has learned.

New Mexico will host Idaho State at Dreamstyle Stadium in Albuquerque on Sept. 5, 2020. The Lobos will pay the Bengals a $375,000 guarantee for the game, according to a copy of the contract obtained from UNM by FBSchedules.com via a public records request.

New Mexico and Idaho State have met three times on the gridiron. In their last meeting in 1998, the Lobos defeated the Bengals 38-9 to extend their series lead to 3-0.

Idaho State is a member of the Big Sky Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision. Last season, the Bengals finished 2-9 overall and 1-7 in conference play.

New Mexico now has three non-conference opponents scheduled for 2020. UNM is also scheduled to travel to USC on Sept. 19 and to in-state rival New Mexico State on a date to be determined.

Based on the Mountain West football rotation, New Mexico will host conference games in 2020 against Boise State, Nevada, San Jose State, and Wyoming. The Lobos will travel to Air Force, Colorado State, Hawaii, and Utah State.
