The Mississippi State Bulldogs have added the ETSU Buccaneers to their 2022 football schedule, it was announced on Friday.

Mississippi State will host ETSU at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville, Miss., on Nov. 19, 2022, per MSU’s official website. The game will be only the second contest between the two schools on the gridiron.

In their first meeting back in 1998, Mississippi State defeated ETSU 53-6 in Starkville. The Bulldogs went on to win the SEC West that season before falling to Tennessee in the SEC Championship Game, 24-14.

ETSU is a member of the Southern Conference (SoCon) in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The Buccaneers finished the 2019 season 3-9 overall and 1-7 in SoCon play.

Mississippi State was previously scheduled to host the Northwestern State Demons to open the 2022 season on Sept. 3. The two schools agreed to mutually cancel the game and the Demons will now play at Southern Miss instead.

The Bulldogs have two other non-conference games announced for the 2022 season. Mississippi State is slated to host Memphis on Sept. 3 (previously scheduled for Sept. 24) and play at Arizona on Sept. 10.

In SEC action in 2022, Mississippi State is scheduled to host Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, and Texas A&M and play at Alabama, Kentucky, LSU, and Ole Miss.

ETSU has completed their non-conference schedule for the 2022 season with the addition of Mississippi State. The Buccaneers are also scheduled to play at Delaware State on Sept. 24 and at North Carolina on Nov. 19.
