The Mississippi State Bulldogs have added the Bowling Green Falcons to their 2022 football schedule, FBSchedules.com has learned.
A copy of the football game contract was obtained from Bowling Green State University via a state open records request.
Mississippi State will host Bowling Green at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville, Miss., on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022. The Bulldogs will pay the Falcons a $1.2 million guarantee for playing the game, according to the copy of the contract.
In their first and only meeting on the gridiron, Mississippi State slipped by Bowling Green, 21-20, on October 12, 2013 in Starkville.
With the addition of Bowling Green, Mississippi State has completed their non-conference football schedule for the 2022 season. The Bulldogs are scheduled to open the season at home against the Memphis Tigers on Sept. 3. Other opponents include the Arizona Wildcats on the road on Sept. 10 and the ETSU Buccaneers in Starkville on Nov. 19.
In SEC play in 2022, Mississippi State is scheduled to host Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, and Texas A&M and travel to Alabama, Kentucky, LSU, and Ole Miss.
Bowling Green has also completed their 2022 non-conference schedule with the addition of Mississippi State. The Falcons are scheduled to play at the UCLA Bruins on Sept. 3 and will host the Eastern Kentucky Colonels on Sept. 10 and the Marshall Thundering Herd on Oct. 1.
