The Michigan State Spartans have added the Toledo Rockets to their 2020 football schedule, per an announcement on Tuesday.
Michigan State will host Toledo at Spartan Stadium in East Lansing on Sept. 19, 2020. The game will be the second meeting between the two schools following a 58-0 Spartan win way back in 1925.
The addition of Toledo tentatively completes Michigan State’s non-conference schedule in 2020. The Spartans are also scheduled to travel to BYU on Sept. 12 and host Miami (FL) on Sept. 26.
If the Big Ten football schedule rotation holds, Michigan State should host Michigan, Minnesota, Northwestern, Ohio State, and Rutgers and travel to Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, and Penn State in 2020.
“We are very pleased and excited to add Michigan State to our 2020 football schedule,” said Toledo athletic director Mike O’Brien. “The Spartans have a tradition of excellence so it definitely will be another exciting matchup for our football team and our fans. It’s also a short drive from Toledo, so I’m sure Rocket Nation will be well-represented at Spartan Stadium.”
Michigan State is the second announced non-conference opponent for Toledo in 2020. The Rockets are also slated to travel to Tulsa on Sept. 5.
