The Miami (Ohio) RedHawks at Bowling Green Falcons football game has been canceled due to COVID-19, the MAC announced on Thursday.

The two schools were scheduled to meet at Doyt Perry Stadium in Bowling Green, Ohio, on Saturday, Dec. 12. The game was canceled due to “…roster issues with the Miami football team related to positive COVID-19 tests and subsequent contact tracing.

“We were informed while we were at practice today,” BGSU head coach Scot Loeffler said. “We were solely focused on Miami and our team is disappointed. However, I can not be more proud of the men in this program and the discipline they showed all year that allowed us to be able to play all season. Their commitment to following every policy and protocol is a foundation we can build upon for future success. We are grateful to our seniors and all they have done for our program. While success on the field has not been what they wanted, these seniors have shown dedication to BGSU.”

Bowling Green finishes their abbreviated 2020 season winless in five attempts. The Falcons dropped contests to Toledo (38-3), Kent State (62-24), Buffalo (42-17), Ohio (52-10), and Akron (31-3).

Miami, which also had two other contests postponed, finishes the regular-season 2-1. The RedHawks defeated Ball State 38-31 and Akron 38-7 at home and fell at Buffalo, 42-10.

The 2020 MAC Championship Game is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 18 at Ford Field in Detroit, Mich. The game will be televised by ESPN at 7:30pm ET.
