College football’s Week 9 college football rankings are out, and the Miami Hurricanes strengthened their hold on the nation’s top spot for the second consecutive week.
Miami cruised past Pitt, 52-23, on Saturday to improve to 7-0 overall and 5-0 in ACC play, remaining one of the nation’s unbeaten teams while continuing to sit No. 1 in both the AP Poll and Coaches Poll.
The biggest shakeup near the top came courtesy of BYU (6-1, 3-1 Big 12), which suffered its first loss of the season. The Cougars fell 39-31 in overtime at UCF, dropping six spots from No. 2 to No. 8 and opening the door for movement among the teams chasing Miami in the rankings.
Texas delivered the week’s most significant rise, jumping eight spots to No. 11 after a statement 34-27 road victory over then-No. 7 Ole Miss. The Longhorns’ surge was the largest climb of any ranked team and further intensified the race for conference championships and College Football Playoff positioning.
BYU’s six-spot slide was the steepest drop of the week, while Ole Miss, Texas Tech and Tennessee each tumbled five places following losses. The Rebels fell to No. 12, the Red Raiders slipped to No. 13 and the Volunteers dropped to No. 16 as voters reshuffled the middle of the Top 25.
Meanwhile, Iowa and USC were unable to hold their places in the rankings after weekend defeats, with both programs falling out of the AP Poll entirely. Their departures created openings for Oklahoma State and Wisconsin to enter the Top 25.

FOX Big Noon Saturday deserves to show BYU-Utah 11/7 & with NBC slated to show Miami-Notre Dame in evening time slot on same day & NBC to show a Noon Big Ten game.
What does this have to do with the latest rankings?
Both Utah & BYU are in the top ten & would make a fantastic fit for FOX Big Noon Saturday.
This is only a suggestion not a demand.
So far no Big 12 games have been scheduled for Big Noon Saturday on FOX.
