The Mercer Bears have released their 2020 football schedule, which includes five home contests.
Mercer kicks off their 2020 football schedule with a non-conference contest at Vanderbilt on Saturday, Sept. 5. The following week on Sept. 12, the Bears open Southern Conference (SoCon) action at home at Five Star Stadium in Macon, Ga., against Western Carolina.
Two consecutive road games are up next as the Bears travel to play Wofford on Sept. 19 and Campbell on Sept. 26. That’s followed by their only open date of the season on Oct. 3.
Mercer then hosts back-to-back SoCon contests in Macon against The Citadel on Oct. 10 and Furman on Oct. 17. Visits to Chattanooga (Oct. 24) and Samford (Oct. 31) follow before Mercer returns to host consecutive contests at Five Star Stadium against ETSU (Nov. 7) and Charleston Southern (Nov. 14).
Mercer closes out their 2020 regular-season football schedule on Nov. 21 with a road contest at VMI.
“I’m an old Southern Conference guy, so I’m looking forward to getting back into this tough conference,” said Mercer head coach Drew Cronic. “There’s a lot of great teams and coaching staffs, so that will be extremely challenging to be competitive in the SoCon. Having coached at Five Star Stadium before, I know how passionate the fans here can be and how much of a home field advantage Mercer has. This is one of the best gameday experiences in the FCS, which is one of the top reasons I wanted to come lead this football team. I’m looking forward to having that great support behind us again this season and for seasons to come.
“The 2020 schedule is a schedule that requires us to be our best every week and work to improve upon the previous week. I’m not worried about who we’re playing a lot. I’m more focused on us being the best we can be. We’ll get ready to go, take things one game at a time and see what we can do.”
