The Marshall Thundering Herd have added the UMass Minutemen to their 2020 football schedule, it was announced on Monday.

Marshall will host UMass at Joan C. Edwards Stadium in Huntington, W.Va., on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020. The game will kickoff at 2:30pm ET and the television and/or streaming network will be announced at a later date.

“With so much uncertainty this season, we’re just trying to give our fan base as many opportunities as possible to see the Thundering Herd,” said Marshall Director of Athletics Mike Hamrick. “We’re happy to welcome UMass to Huntington next month.”

The UMass Minutemen announced their intention to opt back in to the 2020 fall season on September 21. UMass played their first game of the season on Saturday, Oct. 17 at the Georgia Southern Eagles. The Minutemen lost that contest, 41-0.

Marshall, ranked 22nd in the AP Poll and 25th in the Coaches Poll, is 4-0 so far this season. The Thundering Herd defeated Eastern Kentucky (59-0) and Appalachian State (17-7) at home and Western Kentucky (38-14) and Louisiana Tech (35-17) on the road.

Marshall had two of their contests in 2020 postponed due to the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. The Herd was scheduled to play at East Carolina on Sept. 12 and host Rice on Oct. 3. It’s unknown if either of those games will be rescheduled.
