LSU adds New Mexico to 2022 football schedule

The LSU Tigers have added the New Mexico Lobos to their 2022 football schedule, FBSchedules.com has learned.

LSU will host New Mexico at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge on Sept. 10, 2022. The Tigers will pay the Lobos a $1.6 million guarantee for the game, according to a copy of the contract obtained from Louisiana State University via a state public records request.

The 2022 contest between LSU and New Mexico will be their first-ever meeting on the gridiron.

New Mexico is the first scheduled non-conference opponent for LSU for the 2022 season. The Tigers were previously slated to play at Arizona State in 2022, but that game was moved to 2026.

In SEC action in 2022, LSU will host Alabama, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Tennessee and travel to Arkansas, Auburn, Texas A&M, and Florida.

The Lobos now have three scheduled non-conference games in 2022. UNM is also slated to host UTEP (Sept. 17) and play at in-state rival New Mexico State that season.
