The LSU Tigers have added the Central Michigan Chippewas to their 2021 football schedule, the two schools announced on Thursday.
LSU will host Central Michigan at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge on Sept. 25, 2021. The Tigers will pay the Chippewas a $1.45 million guarantee, according to a copy of the contract.
The 2021 contest will be the first-ever meeting between LSU and Central Michigan on the gridiron.
LSU now has three non-conference games scheduled for the 2021 season. The Tigers are scheduled to open the season at UCLA on Sept. 4 and host McNeese State on Sept. 11.
“I spent three seasons in Louisiana with the Saints, and I had the honor of experiencing a game day at Tiger Stadium as a guest of (then LSU coach) Les Miles,” CMU coach John Bonamego said. “For our fans, it is a great road trip that I highly recommend. I love that we get a chance to introduce CMU football to that region of the country.”
Central Michigan also has three non-conference games scheduled for 2021. The Chippewas are slated to play at USF on Sept. 11 an host Florida Atlantic on Sept. 18.
