Louisiana Tech to open 2020 football season at Baylor

By Kevin Kelley -

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will open the 2020 football season at the Baylor Bears, the school announced on Tuesday.

LA Tech’s game at Baylor, which was previously scheduled for Sept. 26, was among three date changes announced due to the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

Louisiana Tech will travel to take on Baylor at McLane Stadium in Waco, Texas, on Sept. 12, 2020. The game was moved due to the Big 12 conference issuing a revised football schedule.

As a result of that move, two other Louisiana Tech game dates were changed. Louisiana Tech will now play at Southern Miss on Sept. 19 and host Houston Baptist on Sept. 26. The two games were previously scheduled for Sept. 12 and Sept. 19, respectively.

“There were a lot of moving parts to making this happen,” said Louisiana Tech Director of Athletics Tommy McClelland. “I appreciate Jeremy McClain at Southern Miss and Steve Moniaci at Houston Baptist for their willingness to move these games around in order to make this happen. We are excited about opening the season in Waco against Baylor.”

Louisiana Tech currently has an 11-game football schedule set for the 2020 season that includes an bye week on Oct. 3.

Houston Baptist, which plays in the Southland Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), will play a three-game non-conference schedule this fall. The Huskies are also scheduled to play at North Texas on Sept. 5 and at Texas Tech on Sept. 12.
