The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and the South Alabama Jaguars have scheduled a home-and-home football series for 2022 and 2027, it was announced on Wednesday.
In the first game of the series, Louisiana Tech will travel to take on South Alabama at Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile, Ala., on Sept. 24, 2022. The Bulldogs will then host the Jaguars at Joe Aillet Stadium in Ruston, La., on Sept. 25, 2027.
Louisiana Tech and South Alabama’s only two previous meetings on the gridiron came during a home-and-home series that was played in Ruston in 2017 and Mobile in 2018. The Bulldogs won both contests, 34-16 and 30-26, respectively.
The addition of South Alabama completes Louisiana Tech’s non-conference schedule for the 2022 season. Other games scheduled for the Bulldogs include at Baylor on Sept. 3, vs. Stephen F. Austin on Sept. 10, and at Clemson on Sept. 17.
South Alabama is the second announced opponent for Louisiana Tech in 2027. The Bulldogs are slated to play at Kansas on Sept. 18, which is the first game of a home-and-home series that concludes in Ruston on Sept. 16 the following season.
With the addition of Louisiana Tech, South Alabama has completed their 2022 non-conference football schedule. The Jags are scheduled to open the season at home against Nicholls on Sept. 3 and later travel for back-to-back contests at Central Michigan on Sept. 10 and at UCLA on Sept. 17.
Louisiana Tech is the first scheduled non-conference opponent for South Alabama for the 2027 season.
South Alabama also announced today that with the scheduling of Louisiana Tech in 2022, they have moved a previously scheduled home game against Bowling Green for the same date to Sept. 16, 2028.
