The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs have added the Northwestern State Demons to their 2023 football schedule, FBSchedules.com has learned.
A copy of the contract for the game with Northwestern State University was obtained from Louisiana Tech University via a state public records request.
Louisiana Tech will host Northwestern State at Joe Aillet Stadium in Ruston, La., on Sept. 9, 2023. The Bulldogs will pay the Demons a $400,000 guarantee for the game, according to the copy of the contract.
Northwestern State competes in the Southland Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The Demons finished the 2019 season 3-9 overall and 3-6 in Southland Conference action.
Louisiana Tech and Northwestern State, separated by about 74 miles, have a long history on the gridiron. The two Louisiana schools have squared off a total of 79 times with the Bulldogs holding a 54-20-5 advantage in the series.
The addition of Northwestern State completes Louisiana Tech’s 2023 non-conference football schedule. The Bulldogs are also scheduled to play at SMU (Sept. 2) and Nebraska (Sept. 23) and host Baylor (Sept. 16) that season.
Louisiana Tech is the first scheduled non-conference opponent for Northwestern State for the 2023 season.
Louisiana Tech is scheduled to open the 2020 season on Saturday, Sept. 5 on the road against the UNLV Rebels. Northwestern State is slated to open their season two days prior on Thursday, Sept. 3 at home against the Incarnate Word Cardinals in a Southland Conference contest.
